FOR her first time showing cattle at Beef Australia, third place out of 100 is a top result for Chloe Plowman.

The 14-year-old Kingaroy teen and her family made the trek from their stud, Ruby Ridge Angus, to Rockhampton with two heifers, a bull and a cow and calf for the triennial event.

“This is my fourth year showing cattle and my first time showing at Beef Australia,” Chloe said.

“The junior handlers’ competition is all about how you connect with the cow and how you treat them.

“I was very excited to place third overall with Ruby Ridge New Angel, I won my heat and to be placed third out of 100 was a really great feeling.”

Chloe’s love for showing cattle comes from her mum, Karen.

“We’ve always had angus cattle and my mum used to show cattle when she was

young so that made me want to do it when I got older,” she said.

“I also really like working with the cattle and it’s a great opportunity to get our name and cattle out there.”

Aside from showing her cattle, the week-long event gave Chloe the chance to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.

“It was also a good chance to have a look at buying some more cattle as well and selling some, too,” she said.

“I was really excited to go to the event, it’s a very busy week.”

Angel and Chloe had a quick turn-around, with judging of the angus during the week.
