The Chronicle

Across the waters and to Bath

-

THE Chronicle often gets weird and wacky letters to its letters@thechronicle.com.au email address, but never have we received a letter that was meant to be for The Bath Chronicle in the UK.

A woman from Bath named Alice emailed The Chronicle about the ever-topical Brexit issue.

Concerned the letter would not find its rightful home, we forwarded the email on to The Bath Chronicle after looking up their website.

To our surprise we soon received a reply from Hugh Dixon, Print Editor for The Bath Chronicle who replied: “That has really cheered me up on a cold and gloomy Monday morning. Hope all is well in Toowoomba — my late aunt used to live in Nambour which I don’t think is far away?”

Good to see international relations working well.

AND THAT’S NO LIE

TOOWOOMBA lass was forced to remember when she had bought her bed after a friend complained about having to buy a new one as it was almost 10 years old.

She was horrified to realise it was back in 2005 when she moved out of house for the first time and so went looking for a new mattress with hubby.

It seems in 13 years much has changed in the bedding industry with much more variety and the couple was quite overwhelmed.

They decided to “sleep on it” before making their decision.

That night it was clear how bad their mattress was after trying lots of comfy and pillowy mattresses with great sup- port. They bought the bed that very day.

GETTING IN EARLY

NEWTOWN man ventured out to a retirement village in the city’s west to visit his parents last Sunday.

As he doesn’t make the visit all that often, his mother was a little surprised to see him march through the door and even more surprised when he waltzed over to her and planted a kiss on her cheek.

Looking up with a confused look, Mum, who knows her children so very well, remarked to her son: “You think it’s Mother’s Day, don’t you?”

“Er, it is Mother’s Day isn’t it?” her son replied.

“No, that next Sunday, you idiot!” Mum laughed back.

Son is now claiming that last Sunday’s visit, albeit a week early, should count for his Mother’s Day visit but his family and mates and at him to repeat the dose and make it official.
