RUGBY LEAGUE: The incredible run of Valleys to start 2018 has continued with a clinical 44-14 victory over Goondiwindi at Herb Steinohrt Oval on Saturday night.

The win gives Valleys a perfect record from their six games played, keeping them on top of the TRL Premiership ladder for another week.

Fresh after forcing his way into the Central Crows team, Dylan Chown further added to his impressive try-scoring feats with another brace, as he brought up a century of points for the year in just six games.

Despite the lop-sided margin after 80 minutes, Goondiwindi appeared to make light work of the 225-kilometre trip to Toowoomba, as electric fullback Will Carter got proceedings under way in the eighth minute of play.

They were able to get themselves into the grind as they looked to pick up their second win of the season, before a Valleys’ flurry in the back end of the first had them reeling.

Hooker Nathan Bowering got the Roosters on the board after 22 minutes, before Hnaloan Budden extended the lead just moments later.

Hugh Sedger pushed his side out to a 12-point advantage, before the Chown show kicked off.

He scored a pair of tries on either side of the half, including a nomination for try of the year.

What looked to be a regulation hit-up from Nick Sargeant on the Valleys side of halfway turned into something special, as the ball passed through nine sets of hands on the way to the Roosters putting their stamp on the fixture.

Boars hooker Tyrell McCullough gave his team a puncher’s chance after bringing the margin back to 20 with 18 minutes of play remaining, however Valleys would shut the door on a comeback to keep their undefeated season alive.

The loss leaves Goondiwindi languishing in ninth, having won just one game for the season.

They have been competitive in a majority of their fixtures, yet have been lacking the punch to finish off games, but will get the chance for redemption when they host Highfields on Saturday.

Valleys will head west in round eight to try and continue their impressive start to 2018 when they tackle Brothers.
