SAMPLE a taste of the good life at this year’s Hampton Festival.

Now in its 16th year, the event is packed with great food, art and cultural activities with more than 4000 people expected to attend this weekend.

The event will kick off tonight with the sold-out Farmers La Femme dinner at Hampton’s Emeraude.

Hampton Festival organiser Wendy Allen said about 80 people were expected at the dinner which will celebrate local produce and farmers, especially the region’s female farmers.

“Then Saturday we have a range of food and art-related workshops,” Ms Allen said.

“Everything from fermenting, table and flower boutiques, wild weaving...”

The workshops held tomorrow require pre-booking. The Hampton Art Exhibition will also be officially opened tomorrow at 2.30pm, Reflections at Lake Cooby will host A Taste of the Region gourmet lunch and a Grazed on the Grove gourmet dinner will be held at Bunnyconnellen Olive Grove and Vineyard.

Sunday is when thousands of people will travel to Hampton’s Chapman Park for a day filled with cooking demonstrations, food, wine and more from 9.30am.

“It’s a great county atmosphere. It’s a little place but it puts on a great show when we have the festival,” Ms Allen said.

“It’s a great family day out, come with some friends, see some great entertainment and relax under the gum trees.”

Some highlights include cooking demonstrations from executive chef at Homage Restaurant at Spicers Hidden Vale Ash Martin, beer pouring with Matt Kirkegaard and plenty of kids activities along with about 70 different stalls from the region and beyond.
