Wedding a celebration of love

- LOUISE O’MARA

I HAVE to admit I am a bit of a royal tragic and I was glued to the screen on Saturday night.

A part of me wouldn’t mind seeing Australia a republic one day – but there is something about the British royals.

I still remember hearing about Diana’s death when I was 13 and Prince Harry was about to turn 13 and I couldn’t imagine losing my mother at that age.

So I have always held a soft spot for Harry and William. I have eagerly watched when William married Kate and had their beautiful children.

So it was lovely to see Harry marry his beautiful bride, and boy was Meghan stunning.

I loved her dress, I loved the whole wedding – passionate preacher included.

Bishop Michael Curry may have gone off on a bit of a tangent during his sermon, but I fully agreed with him.

The whole thing was fairytale – an occasion where billions came together to celebrate love.

I am sure there are many who couldn’t care less about the couple. But it was just nice for a moment to not focus on the negatives in the world, to stop fighting, stop criticising everything and come together to share in the joy of two people.

Call me a romantic, but when Harry looked at Meghan as she walked down the aisle, all I could see was love and as Bishop Curry said, we must rediscover the power of love to make a new world.
