Tradition, glam mingle

Sir Elton performs at reception

-

HARRY and Meghan are no doubt sporting some tired heads after partying with guests at their lavish Frogmore House evening reception.

After the wedding ceremony, the Queen hosted a lunchtime reception for 600 guests at the giant state room inside Windsor Castle.

Sir Elton John performed at the lunchtime event in recognition of the close connection he has with Prince Harry and his family.

The reception also included the cutting of the wedding cake, which was designed by Claire Ptak and featured elderflower syrup made at the Queen’s residence in Sandringham.

The Windsor Castle kitchens prepared fine canapes and finger-food using seasonal ingredients for the lunchtime reception, so that guests could mingle, instead of a formal sitdown lunch.

Guests were served a selection of canapes, including Scottish langoustines wrapped in smoked salmon with citrus creme fraiche and grilled English asparagus wrapped in Cumbrian ham.

In a nod to the Californiaborn Meghan, guests also enjoyed a selection of bowl food, including fricassee of free range chicken with mushrooms and young leeks.

The evening event, hosted by Harry’s father Prince Charles, was for 200 close friends and family members, and was likely the scene of more boisterous celebrations, and Prince William’s best-man speech, where he has vowed revenge on Prince Harry.

Meghan was also expected to make a speech at the nighttime bash.

Cameras were banned, and American and English food and beverages flowed all through the night, with guests playing games and dancing until dawn.

SUSSEX SWAG

IT WAS their Grace Kelly and Cary Grant moment.

Royal tradition behind them, the newly married Duke and Duchess of Sussex turned up the Hollywood glam as they switched into evening gown and tuxedo for their intimate reception at Frogmore House.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrived in a converted electric Jaguar after an extraordinary wedding ceremony unlike anything the royal family has seen before.

For the evening reception, Meghan dazzled in a floorlength halter gown by British designer Stella McCartney.

In a touching tribute, Meghan wore a stunning emeraldcut aquamarine ring that once belonged to Princess Diana.

The Stella McCartney bespoke lily-white high neck dress was made of silk crepe, with shoes by Aquazurra, made in silky satin with nude mesh and powder-blue soles.
