AFTER THE LAST

-

THE WIN

HE PROBABLY gave supporters some anxious moments when well back in running early, but DYLAN’S LUCK wanted the prize badly and really put in over the final 200m to tough out a game Benchmark 75 Handicap victory for trainer Lindsay Hatch.

THE TRAINER

DUCKY BAKER completed a two-track double after his earlier Jandowae victory with Applause A Star when Unique Magic maintained her burst of current good form with a thumping Class 3 win.

THE RIDER

CATCH-us-if-you-can tactics are rarely seen in modern staying races but SKYE BOGENHUBER knew the size of the motor she had underneath her in Sheezinajam and she rated it to perfection as the pair left their rivals standing at the 600m mark to pinch a daring Benchmark 62 victory for trainer Michael Nolan.

FROM THE STAND

Race one: There was early money for Taprock at 12 and Starkin was backed at 4. Red Monkey was hard to lay and bookies were 4 at jump time. The winner Big Dan The Man had support at 2.60 and was a break-square result for the bookies.

Race two: Solo Artist saw early money at 8. The phone money was on Wine Barrel with a bet of $500 each-way at 6. The winner Magic By Design was the biggest shortener of the night with official fluctuations 5 into start 2.70 and it won accordingly.

Race three: Mr Chow was easy to lay at 4.40. The winner Unique Magic was backed off course from 3.70 into 2.80 and lucky for on-course bookies that money never came back to the track. A small losing race for bookies.

Race four: There was strong money Captain Leo at 10 and no real money for any other runner. The money then came quick and fast for Dylan’s Luck. The 2.50 went like last week’s pay and there was $2000 on track at 2.35 followed by smaller cash at 2.25. A bad result for bookies here.

Race five: There was oncourse money for Unconditional at 3.80. Then the money came quick and fast for Diarist.

First a phone bet of $2000 at 1.90 followed by a cash bet of $3000 at 1.80 and lots of smaller bets at the 1.80.The winner Spot On Spud was a good result for bookies and they got to the lead for the first time all day.

Race six: Here the bookies got to lay most runners. There was specking for Rosador at 11 and Strike Sika saw money at 14. Redhaze was backed at 3.80 with a cash on-track bet. Dazet saw money at 8. The winner in Sheezinajam was unwanted on track at 6.50 and paid unders on all three totes.

Race seven: There was specking for Behind The Thistle at 12. There was no real money for any other runners until Bold Sam was scratched and the money then went on Fake News. There was no money for the favourite Honest Natalie and bookies were 2.10 at jump time with no takers. The winner Roscommon was 6 and saw only small money to send the bookies home small winners on the night.
