Mill’s new lease on life

Tenancies ‘ready to go’ at refurbished Defiance Flour Mill site

THE developer of the Toowoomba Mills Precinct is receiving inquiries every day about tenancies in the refurbished Defiance Flour Mill.

Developer Mandy Adams said the site was a hive of activity, with the finishing touches being put to the precinct north of Campbell St.

“Coronis Real Estate is going in there by the end of this week or early next week, and then we have got four other tenancy spaces that are ready to tenant,” Mrs Adams said.

The precinct has a cafe tenancy with outdoor deck that’s “ready to go”.

“It’s an extremely old and unique part of the building... which includes the original dance floor for the social club of The Foundry,” she said.

Also on the list of organisations looking to utilise the precinct was the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers Grand Central Floral Parade, which Mrs Adams said was hoping to run workshops in the near future.

Mrs Adams said work had begun on developing three office suites on the lower side of Campbell Street.

“We have one tenant but I can’t release who that is yet. We’re taking inquiries every day now, and people are coming to see whether it’s ready to be leased or not.”

Work continued on the restaurant and retail spaces within the precinct, which Mrs Adams Adams said would “open out in a really amazing way with outdoor spaces”, while still being undercover.

“It’s so exciting, really, to be able to show people now these plans.”

The Toowoomba Mills Precinct forms part of the Toowoomba Railway Parklands Priority Development Area, which was declared in 2014.
