A successful day for the Wise family at Glenisa’s on-farm sale

-

A DRAFT of 50 rising two-year-old Bulls went under the hammer last Friday at the annual Glenisa Angus on-property bull sale.

Although the sale recorded a lower result in average price and clearance than 2017, the Wise family was pleased with the results given the ongoing drought conditions many among their customer base are enduring. The 2018 sale averaged $4775 with an 80 per cent clearance.

Lot 7, Glenisa Mystic M005, an ET bull by USA sire Jindra Double Vision out of one of Glenisa’s elite donor females topped the sale at $11,500. The bull was purchased by Dan McElery of Glen Innes, one of a number of first-time buyers at the 2018 sale. Mr McElery and his son and manager Jason said they were attracted by the thickness, softness and temprement of this son of Jindra Double Vision.

Bruce and Lorraine McGuigan of Wythburn Partnership Taroom, long-time supporters of Glenisa, paid $10,000 for a bull by DSK Jim Bob J21, one a number of bulls the Wise family stands on its property. Mrs Doreen Edwards of Glencoe, New South Wales, a long-time supporter of Glenisa-bred bulls, was another repeat buyer.

Bevan Wilson, another new buyer from the Taroom district, took home four bulls to average $4750.

The support of local repeat buyers, including Fred Pratt, Ron Fletcher, Geoff Johnstone, Peter Day, Ian Elms and the Patane family, was very welcome at a time when the Granite Belt has been officially drought declared.

Speaking on behalf of the Wise family, Aaron Wise said the sale went much better than he had anticipated given the drought and he was pleased to see producers lucky enough to have had a better season willing to pay well for the bulls.

“It is always heartening to see a good representation of repeat buyers and the addition of several new clients this year certainly bodes well for the future of the Glenisa Stud,” he said.

The focus of the Glenisa team now turns to preparing its bulls for the 2019 sale, to be held on May 15 next year.
