‘‘ I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO HAVE A CRAFT STORE, ALWAYS. JULIE COLLINS

A TOOWOOMBA woman has come out of retirement to fulfil her life-long dream of owning her own craft store.

It has only been a couple of weeks since Julie Collins opened Made Just For You, a handmade gift and up-cycle store in Northlands Shopping Centre.

“I have come out of retirement to open my shop,” she said.

“I have always wanted to have a craft store, always.

“I have been running UpCycle Toowoomba Region on Facebook for six months. That wasn’t retail, that was just fun ideas to up-cycle things.”

Once Ms Collins, who retired from working in a surgeon’s private practice, found an empty store, she knew it was meant to be.

Using her contacts from UpCycle Toowoomba Region, she rounded up about 20 people, as well as herself, to sell their handmade wares in the shop.

“What I can’t get over is the variety. The only thing that is duplicated is scarves and beanies,” she said.

“Personally I would like to see more timber.

“There is scope for so much more and the shelves aren’t full yet. I want to be able to offer all the handmade things that we can come up with.”

Ms Collins is looking for more people to see their wares. If you are interested contact her on 0432 850 702 or through the Up-Cycle Toowoomba Facebook page.
