Shedding light on photography
SEVEN photographers from the Australian Institute of Professional Photography are set to converge on TAFE Queensland’s Toowoomba campus this week.
They will speak to students and emerging photographers about running a successful photography business.
AIPP accrediting photographers will share their experience of running a business and how they operate as photographers at a free seminar held at the campus tomorrow.
Speakers include talented landscape photographer and president of the Queensland branch of the AIPP, Mel Sinclair, and Selena Rollason, a Brisbane birth photographer who was awarded the AIPP Queensland Photographer of the Year for 2018.
TAFE Queensland teacher and AIPP member Alison Ahlhaus said the Light Images seminar was a fantastic way for those wishing to launch a career into photography to learn about their chosen industry from the people that know it best.
“It is going to be a great day and a fantastic opportunity for not only our students, but for anyone interested in a career as a professional photographer to meet with and learn from some of the best in the industry,” Ms Ahlhaus said.
Attendees will gain valuable insights into photographic versatility and projects as well as marketing and business from a panel of experienced and celebrated photographers.
“We are so excited to have such a talented cohort of photographers, with such a broad range of skills and businesses joining us at TAFE Queensland for this seminar,” Ms Ahlhaus said.
The seminar and questions and answer session will run from 10am to 4pm, before the start of the Light Stories student exhibition, where TAFE Queensland Diploma of Photography and Photo imaging students will have the chance to display their work.
Other guest speakers include Mel Anderson of Dream Images, William Long of Long Shots Photography, wildlife and Queensland Museum Photographer Garry Cranitch, pet photographer Charlotte Reeves and photographer and Nikon representative Tony Holden.
