Saints and Shark set for battle

TOUCH: Saints will look to take a bite out of ladder leaders Sharks today. Both sides are coming off losses last weekend with Saints falling to Roosters and Sharks to Rebels Hurricanes.

Saints have been traditiona­lly one of competitio­n’s front runners but a loss this weekend would see them drop out of the top two.

Saints will be sweating on the fitness of key man Sam Carmody who provides them with a real attacking threat.

In other games Roosters will be hoping to continue their good recent form when they play Lions while Rebels Hurricanes should be too strong for Royals.

In women’s fixtures, Saints will be looking to cause an upset when they play competitio­n leaders Roosters.

Saints currently sit in third place on the ladder and a victory over their more fancied opponents will keep their chance of a top two finish alive.

In other games, Fairholme will be the looking for a confidence-building victory when they play Lions and Sharks will start favourites against Rebels Hurricanes.

Last round

Rebels Hurricanes showed great spirit in come from behind 15-9 win over Sharks.

Braden Thompson performed well for Rebels in their win.

Rebels Hurricanes ran in seven unanswered touchdowns in the last 10 minutes to snatch the win.

Lachlan Pierce was Sharks’ best having a hand in most of their touchdowns with good support from Tate Costigan who crossed for two touchdowns.

In the other men’s game, Royals beat Lions 5-4 and Roosters edged out Saints 5-4.

In women’s fixtures, Sharks defeated Fairholme 7-3 to maintain second place on the ladder.

Saints defeated a gallant Lions 6-3 and Roosters beat Rebels Hurricanes 13-1 with Holly Neville scoring a hat trick.
