Cruise for Cancer off to a roaring start

THE tiny hamlet of Haden to Toowoomba’s north won’t know what hit it when more than 100 Harley Davidsons motorcycles roar into town later this year.

Haden is the destination for this year’s for Cruise for Cancer on August 26, an annual fundraising ride organised by the Toowoomba branch of the Harley Davidsons Owners Club.

“I did it for the first time last year and it was fantastic,” Jillian Huth of Cancer Council Queensland said recalling her trip to Warwick.

“It was bit scary at first but it was wonderful.

“You get to see so much more of the countryside on the back of a motorbike than what you do driving a car.

“It’s something you don’t do every day.”

Ms Huth was speaking at the launch of this year’s event which was held in conjunction with a sausage sizzle at Bunnings North in Ruthven St on Saturday.

Cruise for Cancer organisers are looking for more pillion passengers to climb aboard to ride with an experienced Harley Davidson rider for the trip.

Reserving your seat on a Harley will set you back $125 which includes the ride to Haden and back, morning tea, lunch, souvenir T-shirt and a photo.
