Making top 100 in business
City woman rewarded for 10 years of hard work
‘‘ I THINK WHEN YOU’VE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR SO LONG AND YOU JUST WORK HARD AND OTHER PEOPLE IN BUSINESS WILL GET THIS - YOU’RE JUST KIND OF TURNING THE WHEELS.
LINDA TILLMAN
A TOOWOOMBA businesswoman has been rewarded for 10 years of hard work, being named as one of the Queensland Government’s 100 Faces of Small Business.
Linda Tillman is the owner and founder of Tilma Group, which despite operating out of a small office space on Water St, has a national reach.
The tourism, marketing and events agency focuses exclusively on regional and rural Australia, providing advice, helping with destination development, training and skills development, programs and event strategy and sustainable planning.
Ms Tillman’s face now joins 99 others, bringing the stories of Queensland’s small businesses to centre stage.
She said it was great to be recognised in what was her 10th year of running Tilma Group.
“When it was announced, it was lovely. I think when you’ve been in business for so long and you just work hard and other people in business will get this - you’re just kind of turning the wheels,” she said.
“So when you get acknowledged for that and to receive this type of recognition, it’s a real boost.”
Tilma Group has worked in 60 different communities in regional and rural Australia since it began. It has been located in Toowoomba for the past three and a half years.
Ms Tillman said there was “a great mix of businesses” showcased in the initiative.
“When you see there’s some amazing people out there doing amazing things across Queensland, that is so motivating and you feel really proud to be part of that,” she said.
Minister for Employment and Small Business Shannon Fentiman made the announcement as part of Small Business Week 2018.
