THE team behind The Bavarian insists it has the best beers on tap, 17 in fact, as well as being the Toowoomba restaurant with the best view.

The German-themed restaurant opens on the second floor of Grand Central Shopping Centre today, sure to bring in the crowds with 500 free hot dogs from noon.

The Bavarian brand’s food and beverage director Shaun Baker said Toowoomba was the 20th store for the brand as well as its first regional store.

“We have been looking at Toowoomba for a while now. We think that the city has a lot of potential,” Mr Baker said.

“I think the main thing for us is we know people in Toowoomba love beer. So we’re certainly very interested to give them the best beer Toowoomba has to offer.”

Along with the 17 varieties of beer are signature items like pork knuckle, loaded schnitzels and speciality signature schnapps.

“We just think the community will really take on this venue and call it their own, make it their new local,” Mr Baker said.

The Bavarian Toowoomba general manager Brad Martin was excited to be opening the doors for the first time today from 11am.

“Here at The Bavarian we are really happy, really excited to bring our brand to Toowoomba,” he said.

“We are a family-friendly restaurant that serves good German beer, so looking forward to seeing you all.”
