Coffee and a smile

We live here ‘cos we love it!

I WORK here at Crema Espresso in Toowoomba and I’ve been working here for about four years now. It is a lovely spot to come and enjoy a coffee and cake and food.

I like Toowoomba because of the gorgeous gardens and the fresh mornings and the fresh air and it’s always good to get out and go for a morning walk. I’ve lived here all my life.

I’m a casual here at Crema. I’m studying to become a teacher so I’ll be in my last year next year and I can’t wait to finish. I’d be happy to stay here in Toowoomba and teach when I’m done.

I’VE been here my whole life, pretty much. I was born in Goondiwindi and I think it was when I was about three years old that I moved to Toowoomba. I grew up here, went to school here, and then I finished my university course here. I went to USQ and did a Bachelor in Business.

And I’ve worked at Crema the whole time – I started here when I was at school and worked here all throughout uni and I’m still here now – so that’s been about four years.

With my degree, I want to go into marketing or human resource management. I’d like to be able to do that while staying here in Toowoomba.

What do I like about Toowoomba? I guess the community side of it. I can be in Grand Central just walking around not in my work uniform and customers still recognise me. So that’s always nice to see a friendly face, even when I’m not at work. I just love the sense of community and how lovely everyone is.

SO I’VE worked at Crema for about four years now and I’m also studying nursing... and I also have another job, so that fills in my time.

I’ve been studying nursing for nearly three years and I’m finishing this year. I’m looking forward to it. I’d like to work at the hospital – I’m planning on doing midwifery. Why midwifery? I’ve always wanted to do midwifery so I just had to start with nursing.

I was born in Toowoomba but I moved away for a few years. I’ve been here for 10 years now. What’s one thing I like about Toowoomba? I just like how you’ve got everything you need but it’s not a huge, big busy city with all the traffic and what-not.

I LIKE how Toowoomba is not a small town but it’s not a huge city. Everybody is friendly and it’s got that community feel. I’ve been living here for seven years.

I was out in Roma originally, and then St George, and then Dalby. So I’m from out west. Moving in was a big change because everything was here – there was no monthly trip in to get groceries, to go to Hanna’s and that sort of stuff.

We moved around because of my dad’s job – he is a bank manager and he looked after the big farmers and still does.

Do I miss the wide open spaces? No, I’m more of a city girl. I do like being in the city.

Hopefully I will be studying sonography next year. CQY’s the only place that does undergraduate into it, so hopefully it all goes well there.

I like health and caring for people – that’s just my passion. I love helping someone out. I love working here because you know – the customers come first and I like to see everybody get a smile on their face. A simple coffee sometimes makes someone’s day.

And I also have another job in the centre, I work at Forever New, so through that work I can make a woman feel better and even more confident and empowered.
