USQ Artsworx to present concert for Hospice

-

THE University of Queensland Artsworx will proudly present the annual Toowoomba Hospice Concert this month, a two-concert fundraiser performed by the Toowoomba Municipal Band.

This year the theme is “Our Australia”. It will feature well-known Australian songs such as Click Go The Shears, You’re The Voice and I Still Call Australia Home.

These much loved annual concerts are a favourite of audiences and feature not only performances by the Toowoomba Municipal Band, but special guest choirs and dancers from across the region.

Secretary Mark Nuss said the Toowoomba Municipal Band had been working on the music for the past couple of months.

“The band members are very excited to be performing in these concerts once again and are looking forward to working with the various guest artists, including local singer Brendon Walmsley,” Mr Nuss said.

“We have choirs from Toowoomba Choral Society and Toowoomba Philharmonic Society (the two largest choirs in Toowoomba), as well as smaller vocal groups from The Glennie School and The Accidentals, as well as the velocity dancers from Dance Central.

“Audiences can expect a bit of everything at the concerts, so nobody will go home disappointed.”

The concerts are a fundraising event for the Toowoomba Hospice.

“The money raised from this event helps us to continue to provide safe quality palliative care base on mutual respect, trust and individual needs for those with a terminal illness as well as providing support to their family and friends where we can,” Mark Munro, from the Hospice, said.

Wine and cheese will be available for purchase at Saturday evening’s performance.

See it on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24 at 7.30pm at the USQ Arts Theatre. It is $25 for general admission and $20 for concessions and members.
