Dangerous Danica eyes off victory in Warwick
RACING: Tom Dougall is hoping for a case of deja vu when he heads down the New England Hwy to Warwick today.
Dougall is bringing horse Dangerous Danica to Allman Park in the hopes of snaring the BM60 Killarney Cup (1500m).
The six-year-old scored on the corresponding program last year when leading all the way in a BM45 over 1350m, and the Toowoomba trainer would like to see a repeat today.
The mare is yet to win beyond 1350m and despite drawing barrier 11, Dougall hopes Grace Willoughby can steer her home with 56kg.
“She goes well at Warwick and the claim gives her a chance to see out the 1500m,”
‘‘ SHE GOES WELL AT WARWICK AND THE CLAIM GIVES HER A CHANCE... TOM DOUGALL
Dougall said.
“There is a slight query at the distance and with the awkward gate. She’ll go forward from the bad barrier. We’ll see whether she gets a bit tired at the finish.”
Dougall also has two-yearold Zalibri competing against the older horses in the Killarney Co-Op Maiden Plate (800m), and said the filly would give a sight.
“She has jumped out fairly several times and does everything right. She’s no superstar, but hopefully she can be around the money,” he said.
“It’s not an overly strong race bar Ben Ahren’s horse (Countless Rock). Hopefully she’ll be competitive.”
