FOCUS ON POSITIVE

-

WHY is there much emphasis on the negative these days?

It’s all “anti” something. Today there’s too much of it, encouraging indifference and fear of others rather than caring for and helping them.

Why not focus on the positive instead? This means modelling good, old-fashioned manners and respect for others in the community we all share.

We can do this by showing care and concern, and by being a good example to the younger generation.

Children copy a lot of what they see and hear, and unfortunately today much of that is quite negative.

Our language is peppered with expletives in movies, on TV and sadly, in the home.

Social media plays a big part in promoting a culture of cruelty to each other, especially the young.

An act of kindness can change not only your world, but really make the day of someone else; ask the question: Can I help you? R.U.O.K?

If it’s you who’s going through a tough time, why not reach out and ask for help.

Look for the good in others; you’ll be glad you did.

Life is hard enough, so give yourself a break, and give someone else a break too; it starts with each one of us.

One random act of kindness may even save a life. SUSAN RUTLAND, Centenary Heights
