Lake Cressbrook open again

-

LAKE Cressbrook is now open for water activities after council cleared an outbreak of cyanobacteria, which is a form of blue green algae.

It was detected in early February and the lake has been closed since while the Toowoomba Regional Council managed, assessed and cleared the bacteria.

It was a shame that holiday makers over the Easter period couldn’t enjoy recreational activities at the lake, but it has reopened in time for the midyear school holidays.

With so much on offer, it is one of the many places around the region that should be on your activity hot spot list.

At Lake Cressbrook you can go boating, rowing, fishing, bushwalking, sailing, camping, picnicking, kayaking and canoeing. Swimming, however, is prohibited.

It is open from 7am to 6pm and water based activities are not permitted outside these hours.

There is also a campground on the shore of the lake.

There are more than 30 campsites, with six of these available for campers, vans and caravans.

Cost is $8 per person, per night or $32 per family for up to two adults and any number of children under 18.

Lake Cressbrook is a 50km drive from Toowoomba, and about 15 minutes drive from Crows Nest.

It’s easily accessible from the New England Hwy via Pechey or Crows Nest or from the EskHampton Rd near Ravensbourne.
