Goondiwindi grandma cries over $2 million

-

A GRANDMOTHER from the Goondiwindi region has cried happy tears at the revelation she was $2 million richer from winning division one in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto $20 Million Superdraw.

The delighted woman held one of the 10 division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3853 on June 23. Each entry took home a division one prize of $2 million.

Speaking to a Golden Casket official yesterday morning, the Southern Downs resident couldn’t contain her excitement at her multi-million dollar windfall.

“I’ve been waiting for your call. I’ve dreamt of this moment. Oh thank you!” she exclaimed.

“Oh my God! Absolutely amazing. I’m crying, but they’re happy tears. I thought I had won but I just needed it confirmed.

“I checked my ticket online at about 4.30am on Sunday morning and got others out of bed to check my ticket. I’ve just been waiting for your call.

“I’ve spent nearly the whole time crying, and then thinking maybe I had got it wrong but you’ve just confirmed it. It’s real! It’s true!”

The regular Gold Lotto player described her win as “absolutely incredible” and she couldn’t wait to start planning how she’d use the win.

“Life’s always been a struggle but this will make it easier,” she said.

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her 50-game QuickPick entry at Bishops Goondiwindi, 70 Marshall St, Goondiwindi.

Bishops Goondiwindi team member Madalene Coleman said the town was buzzing with the news a division one win had landed in the region.

“I was excited to see we had a winner and was hoping it was one of our local customers,” she said.

“Word has certainly spread around town that there’s a winner.

“We wish our winner all the very best with their prize.”
