Flourishing in life with Endeavour Foundation

-

FOR Andrew Porter, some extra help with daily activities goes a long way.

Mr Porter is on a path to greater independence with Endeavour Foundation in Toowoomba, learning how to write and send emails on an iPad, make healthy meals, do his laundry and make his bed.

One of Mr Porter’s favourite things to do is practice using the Heritage Bank ATM on Ruthven Street with Endeavour Foundation’s powerful new Virtual Reality educational software.

In an Australian-first, the fully developed educational curriculum combines road safety with financial management with an accurate recreation of the busy Toowoomba Street.

“Using the ATM is definitely my favourite,” Mr Porter said.

“I also like learning the road rules and I look both ways, left and right, before crossing.”

At Endeavour Foundation’s Toowoomba City Learning and Lifestyle Centre, Andrew Porter is going from strength to strength, attending the gym after classes on Tuesdays and learning how to prepare his favourite food.

“Another one of my favourite programs is the healthy eating one,” said Mr Porter.

“I really like learning to make and eating the salads!”

Extra funding under the NDIS has opened up a world of opportunity for Mr Porter, giving him access to additional one-to-one home support.

“I used to need full support to make my bed but now I just need help with the corners,” he said.
