RUGBY LEAGUE: With six rounds remaining in the TRL Premiership, almost every game will have a bearing on the finals picture.

That was evidenced at the weekend, with a number of big bearing results around the grounds.

Andrew O’Brien from At The Footy with Obee and Cookie

was on hand to watch Dalby defeat Pittsworth in a rematch of last year’s grand final, and hinted the best is yet to come for the Diehards.

“Dalby and Warwick are the two sleepers of the competition,” O’Brien said.

“Dalby aren’t there yet but they are a work in progress. They played some serious footy on the weekend.

“(Corey) Blades and (Alex) Ambia will carry them to the grand final. They inject themselves at the right time.

“Pittsworth’s kicking game was poor. They kept kicking to Ambia. They’d kick 50 (metres) and he’d go 40. He kept them on the back foot.

“He’s the number one winger in the comp for a reason.”

Oakey got home 29-20 over Brothers, and despite possessing a talented roster, O’Brien said it was time for the Bears to really dig in.

“Oakey has to stop reading the headlines, and get down and dirty. They’re not as good as they think they are and they need to get down to training,” he said.

“Brothers looked like a side that had been training, Oakey looked like they hadn’t.

“It’s their season against Valleys on the weekend.

“They’ve got fantastic talent. Josh Robinson is one of the best centres in the comp and Corey Mullins is one of the best forwards.

“(Aaron) Cherry is a reigning medallist and Josh Stanton is a great back rower.”

Warwick moved into third spot after a tough battle with Highfields, and O’Brien said it was an important win for their season.

“Warwick put their hand up on the weekend. They just didn’t beat Highfields, they had control of the match,” he said.

“Highfields have some issues and injuries aren’t help- ing.

“(Cowboys coach) Phil Economidis said their defence was fantastic. I spoke to (Eagles coach) Gus McKellar and he said they took the wrong options.

“Nick Bainbridge is out and they’re really missing him. Sean Loxley went down early, and he’s a big talker.

“Jarrod Lee was apparently very good. Highfields are the best club that plays well as a team and they don’t rely on a couple of players.”

Warwick and Dalby will face off for outright third this Sunday when they clash at Father Ranger Oval. At The Footy with Obee and Cookie will broadcast the Gatton vs Wattles fixture on Saturday night, and Warwick hosts Dalby on Sunday.
