INDOOR CRICKET: Another chapter in Toowoomba’s proud indoor cricket history will be written this weekend.

The Garden City will play host to the National Championships with the first ball to be bowled on Saturday night.

Close to 1000 junior and senior players will be in action from June 30 to July 14 at Action Indoor Sports Toowoomba.

Queensland representative Lyle Teske said he expected the fortnight to be actionpacked.

“Australia’s best indoor cricket players are going to be in action,” Teske said.

“The level of competition is always very high and the play will be intense. The skill level of some of the players is unbelievable.”

Toowoomba will also be well represented on the pitch with junior and senior players in action.

“We have a proud indoor cricket history in Toowoomba,” Teske said.

“We’ve produced three Australian captains (Teske, Troy Gurski and Alan Wilson), we’ve produced lots of representative players and our teams are quite competitive.

“There will be quite a few Toowoomba players lining up for Queensland at these championships as well.

“We’ve got quite a few junior girls in action and there is myself, Blake Anderson and Jeremy Crighton in the men’s team. Keiran Gibbs who has recently returned to Toowoomba will play for North Queensland.”

Teske also encouraged spectators and fans to get behind the championships.
