Sydney Dance Company makes debut at Empire

-

SYDNEY Dance Company will visit the Empire Theatre for the first time this July with contemporary dance performance ab [intra] on Thursday, July 12.

Receiving rave reviews in Sydney and being described at contemporary dance at its most evocative and beautiful, ab [intra] is a dynamic work of athleticism that exposes the shared instincts that drive us apart and bring us back together.

As the latest creation from artistic director Rafael Bonachela, ab [intra] is an electrifying journey into the extremes of human nature, exploring what drives our relationships and ignites our ambitions in a visceral new work showcasing Australia’s best contemporary dancers and a collaboration with composer Nick Wales.

Meaning ‘from within’ in Latin, ab [intra] explores our primal instincts, our impulses and our visceral responses that commands the attention of the audience.

The music fuses lush cello concerto with a ambient electronica in a ferociously physical and heartfelt piece that will stay with you long after you leave the theatre.

Sydney Dance Company is Australia’s leading contemporary dance company and will celebrate its 50th year in 2019.

The Empire Theatres 2018 Dance Season is supported by Dance Central.
