POLICE are reminding residents to lock their homes and cars after another vehicle was stolen in Toowoomba.

Information is being sought on a black Holden Commodore GTS taken from a Prince Henry Heights home about 3.40am yesterday.

Initial investigations suggest the thief was able to get the keys to the vehicle before driving it away.

“Police are reminding residents of the need to maintain security of their own homes and to ensure all doors and windows are locked,” a spokeswoman said.

“(And) ensure car and house keys, and all keys, are placed somewhere safe so someone entering the home cannot find them.”

The spokeswoman urged residents to be vigilant about cars parked in streets or in park areas after a number of stolen vehicles were yet to be recovered despite people being charged over the offences.

Police suspect the cars have been dumped or abandoned in Toowoomba streets or surrounding rural communities

The vehicles include a blue 2015 Nissan X-Trail station wagon with the numberplate 059 WDG, a grey 2012 Isuzu D-Max dual cab ute with the numberplate 001 SWY, a silver 2013 Toyota Hilux dual cab ute with the numberplate BJJ 67, and a white 2014 Toyota Hilux ute with the numberplate QGL E32.

The spokeswoman said residents should not assume their neighbours have reported the vehicles to police.

Anyone with information is urged to call Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
