HAVE A LAUGH

-

Sticky situation

A group of women, all members of the local bushwalking club, were out traversing a dangerous bushwalk one day, holding a rope between themselves for safety.

Suddenly, weakened by days of heavy rain, the entire side of the bushwalk gave way.

The quick-thinking brunette in the group dominated by blondes slung her rope around a tree,

just in time to stop the ladies falling, crashing, far below.

The whole group of women found themselves hanging perilously from a rope over the edge of the cliff.

After dangling there for a only a short while it became obvious that the rope would not hold all their collective weight. They decided that to prevent the rope snapping and killing them all, one of them must sacrifice themselves and let go, to save the others.

They talked about it for a while, but of course no-one could decide a fair way of of choosing who should let go.

Finally, the brunette, exasperated by the indecisiveness of the blondes, could see that if nobody acted soon the rope was going to snap.

To save the others she bravely decided that she must make the sacrifice. She plucked up a little courage and told the others that she would jump to save them.

After giving a short but very moving speech that she hoped would be remembered after

she’d gone, the blondes were so moved that they all started clapping.

Hill-billies

Two hill-billies met on a dusty country road. One of them was carrying a big bag labelled ‘chickens’,

“Chickens, eh?” said the other hill-billy. “Hey, if I guess how many chickens you got, will you give me one?”

“Heck,” said the hill-billy with the bag, “if you guess right, I’ll give you both of ‘em.”

The other scratched his head and guessed, “Um, five?”

Great escape

Two prisoners were making their escape over the jailhouse roof when one of them dislodged a tile. “Who’s there?” shouted a guard.

The first prisoner replied with a convincing imitation of a cat’s meow. Reassured, the guard when back to his rounds. But then the second prisoner dislodged another tile.

The guard repeated, “Who’s there?”

“The other cat,” answered the prisoner.
