Man, beast at their peak

PBR Stock Contractor title race heats up

-

DAILY exercise – tick. Nutritionist – tick. Massage therapist – tick.

These are just a few of the things required to keep an athlete performing at their best.

However, many would assume that this is a checklist for a human athlete. But in the world of PBR, this is the routine required to keep bovine athletes feeling great and performing at their best.

Stock Contractors take great pride in their bulls; they invest a lot of time, money and passion.

They are looking not only for that “one star” in their pen, but a team of bulls they know possess the ability and athleticism to perform each and every time they buck out.

The results of each contractor’s effort is obvious in the current PBR Stock Contractor standings.

Only half a point separates the top three contenders for this season’s prestigious award Stock Contractor of the Year: Dittmann Bucking Bulls 43.8445 (Bloomsbury, QLD), TNR Bucking Bulls 43.782 (Melville, NSW) and Brandenburg Bucking Bulls 43.3082 (Clermont, QLD).

The standings are calculated on the bull’s performances throughout the year.

Prior to each event, the contractor must nominate his/her three bulls for the Bull Team before the rider draws are posted. At the completion of the event, the bull scores from each team are then averaged to determine the winner and placegetters for event bonuses.

The Stock Contractor of the Year title will be awarded based on their top five event averages throughout the season. SweetPros Palooka, SweetPros Fully Locked and Loaded are regular team nominees for Dittmann Bucking Bulls.

TNR’s SweetPros Call Me Joe and Rodeo Blues are usually in the mix and for Brandenburg Bucking Bulls, reigning Bucking Bull of the Year Top Country’s Take the Gamble along with Slam N Jam.

Perhaps what gives these three contractors the edge however – is they each have any another 4-5 bulls in their pen they can include in their team each time they head to an event – they just have to decide which one to include.

“Man it’s going to get interesting – it’s great to see,” Jason Dittmann said.

“It is going to come down to the wire.”

Without a doubt, this is going to be a tight and closely watched leaderboard – with not only the top three but also other contractors worthy contenders.

These bulls will all be fit and ready to go at upcoming PBR events. The winner of the 2018 Stock Contractor of the Year will be announced and presented at the PBR Grand Finals that will be held at the Townsville Entertainment Centre, November 23-24.
