THE secret to Enid Maunder’s long-life is all down to good genes.

According to the 98-yearold, she also keeps her mind active with quiz shows like The Chase and various audio books.

Mrs Maunder celebrated her birthday on Tuesday at Bupa Glenvale surrounded by family, friends and staff.

Accordion player Bill Newman was hired to provide entertainment at the special morning tea.

Mr Newman performed songs including When You and I Were Young, Maggie and You are My Sunshine as well as the Chicken Dance, which had the birthday girl up dancing.

Mrs Maunder is the third-oldest resident at the aged-care facility.

Enid Bannerman was born in 1920 and was the youngest of eight children, of which five became teachers, including Mrs Maunder.

She taught at many schools in New South Wales and married farmer James (Jim) Maunder during World War II.

Daughter Marilyn was born while he served overseas and Jim did not see his daughter until she was six-months-old.

After the war, the family settled at ‘Balmoral Park’, Pallamallawa in NSW with Robert, Kerrie and John born soon after.

In retirement, Enid and Jim moved to Taree, then Palm Beach on the Gold Coast.

Jim passed away in May 2012 aged 94 and in September 2015, Enid moved to Toowoomba and has resided at Bupa Glenvale since.

Enid was a member of the CWA, Probus and a keen bowler.

She still likes to go out to lunch and even enjoys a little flutter on the pokies as well as spending time with her four children, 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
