Bream Creek Vineyard at picturesque Marion Bay in southeast Tasmania was originally planted in 1974, making it one of the oldest commercial vineyards on the island. Renowned vigneron Fred Peacock bought the vineyard in 1990 and since then, Bream Creek has been awarded more than 20 trophies and 470 show medals. They also have the first commercial planting in the southern hemisphere of the rare German grape Schonburger.

RESERVE CHARDONNAY, 2016

Changes up several gears with more overt oak treatment and complexity of flavours: mealy bran, singed lemon rind and grilled nuts. No frivolity here: Citrus depth with concentration. Boxes clever with precision acidity. Rating:

9/10 RRP: $42 Alc: 12.9%

PINOT NOIR, 2015

From one of Tassie’s best vintages comes a full-bodied expression of pinot. Highly spiced with cinnamon quills and thyme. Rich with cherries, plums and sweet rosewater. Persistent tannins show potential for cellaring. Rating: 8.5/10 RRP: $36 Alc: 13.7%

RESERVE PINOT NOIR, 2015

A tightly coiled release; hesitantly giving up forest floor, purple flowers, cherry flesh/juice and bouquets of spice. Plenty of gauze-like tannins coat the tongue before deep woody spiced cherry. A long term prospect. Rating:

9/10 RRP: $55 Alc: 13.6%
