Burns in hot-form during tour of Darling Downs

-

GOLF: Queensland’s Brad Burns completed a memorable Darling Downs visit on a triumphant note at City Golf Club on Friday when he streaked to victory in the CMBM Facility Services Legends ProAm.

Burns’ win made it a clean sweep of Downs tour victories for the week after his success at Millmerran Golf Club on Tuesday and Toowoomba Golf Club on Thursday.

The Sunshine Coast-based professional (pictured) fired a seven-under-par 65 to down Martin Petersen by three shots in the Aschmour Farming Millmerran Legends Pro-Am.

“I really look forward to returning to Millmerran, the people are just so friendly, and even if you don’t play well, you know you are going to have a good day,” Burns said.

Burns followed that up on Thursday with another sevenunder score at Middle Ridge to claim the Hutchinson Builders Toowoomba Legends Pro-Am by two shots from Victorian Peter Woodward.

“Although I didn’t play as well as I would have liked in the US, my confidence has been at an all time high and it has really showed in recent weeks,” Burns said after his Ridge win.

“Today was no different, and the round could have been even better if I had of made a few make-able birdie putts over my closing holes

“It’s great to see the Toowoomba Golf Club getting back to the standard that the club is renowned for, and I look forward to returning next year.”

Burns wrapped up his winning Darling Downs hat-trick with a three-under 65 on a shortened City layout which placed him three shots clear of second-placed pair Craig Warren and Richard Cooney.

Burns run of hot form has seen him extend his lead in the Order of Merit race as the Legends Tour breaks in Queensland for a week.

“It really has been an unbelievable run in recent weeks, a run that I knew was possible with my form, but not one that I thought would become a reality,” Burns said.

“The course at City is not long, but one you really need to be accurate on.”
