TOOWOOMBA artist Carolyn Wishart has won The Chronicle Garden Competition’s inaugural Cover Art Competition with her painting titled “Spring Time Joy”.

The cover of our popular souvenir visitor guide is always highly anticipated and this year The Chronicle decided to offer it to Toowoomba’s creative community.

The Chronicle Garden Competition Co-ordinator Letitia Robarts said the Cover Art Competition was intended to get our local artists more involved.

“We were over the moon with the 25 entries we received,” she said. “We always like opportunities for community engagement and the Cover Art Competition was a great way to connect with our local artists.

“Choosing the winner was very difficult for our judging panel! Each and every entry was beautiful in its own way.”

In addition to seeing her painting on nearly 30,000 covers, Carolyn also wins a $300 voucher from Murrays Art and Framing and a one-on-one workshop with artist Anna Bartlett valued at $495.

Congratulations also goes to Kristy Richardson our second place winner and Emma Swan who won third place. The top 10 entries in the Cover Art Competition will be on display at Cobb and Co Museum from Friday, September 21 to Sunday, September 30.

Thank you to the judges, Anna Bartlett of Shiny Happy Art, Roslyn Hartwig of Murray’s Art and Framing, graphic artist Jane Bray and Tennielle Copson, both of The Chronicle.

The Chronicle Garden Competition Visitor Guide is the must-have guide to Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers and provides essential information about the beautiful gardens of The Chronicle Garden Competition and other fun floral activities.

It is available free with all Chronicle newspapers purchased on Friday, September 21.
