Glennie School leaps to equestrian honour

Swag of titles for local school

EQUESTRIAN: At the Pryde’s Easifeed State Interschoo­l Equestrian Championsh­ips, The Glennie School won The Lorette Wigan Cup for Champion Equestrian Secondary School for 2018.

Glennie last won this award in 2015. Held at both the Queensland State Equestrian Centre at Caboolture and Morgan Park at Warwick, the championsh­ips were run over six days. Riders competed in Dressage, Show Jumping, Show Horse and Showman with 110 schools from around the state competed.

Not only were the girls competing for the school but they were also competing for selection in the Queensland team to ride at the National Interschoo­l Championsh­ips at Werribee, Victoria, in October.

Ellie Stenzel (Year 4) was the lone primary school rider who competed in Show Horse, Showman and Dressage and achieved excellent results.

CAPTAIN LEADS WAY

SWIMMING: The Glennie School student Abigail Schoorl has taken to her leadership role like a duck to water.

Abigail was named as captain

of Queensland at the Australian School Sport Swimming Championsh­ips held in Hobart over the past week.

She has taken home two gold medals to date in the 100m backstroke and as a member of the 4x50m individual medley relay, swimming backstroke.

The talented swimmer also added silver in the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly, as well as bronze in the 100m butterfly.
