Powerful play sends message

-

A CAST of eight is performing a powerful play about the ups and downs of modern life.

Lesser Evils is being put together by Mostly Standing Theatre, a small indie theatre based in Toowoomba.

The group writes their own productions and gives everyone a chance at performing or being involved in the theatre.

The much-anticipated drama, comedy play is about a woman who feels like she has no way out and suicide looks like her only option. However, the people in her life show her that there is another choice the choice to live.

It is written by Liz Schneidewin and directed by Brendan Hillier.

Ms Schneidewin was inspired by the book Deep Blue Sea by Terence Rattigan.

Mr Hillier said it would be a powerful play and had been in the works since the beginning of the year.

“I think doing a play like this makes people aware of the effect suicide has on one’s self and on others. It’s a huge thing and it affects a lot of people,” he said.

“A simple heart-felt message reassuring someone that you are there for them can do more help than most would think.”

The play will be performed over two nights Friday, August 3 and Saturday, August 4 from 7pm at the Toowoomba Repertory Theatre Society.
