Border lunch starts busy turf club weekend

-

RACING: Toowoomba racing’s achievers for the 2017/18 racing year will be acknowledged at Clifford Park next month when Toowoomba Turf Club also looks to welcome a legendary sport star to the city.

The UBET Toowoomba Turf Club annual racing awards will be held in the Clive Berghofer Grande Atrium on Saturday night, September 15.

The function coincides with a break in Clifford Park’s Saturday night racing schedule with the weekend meeting shifting to Sunday, September 16.

The 2017/18 Clifford Park premiership winners will be officially recognised on the night while other award recipients — including the Industry Contributor — will also be revealed at the presentation dinner.

The award function is part of a busy Clifford Park weekend which begins on the Friday when the club hosts its latest sportsman’s lunch.

The September 14 guest will be former Australian cricket captain, national selector and Fox Sports commentator Allan Border.

Border is one of Australian sport’s most recognisable personalities.

He took the reins of the Aussie side during a dark period for Australian cricket and proved himself a fearless leader and artful batsman.

AB will speak candidly about his career and his thoughts on cricket’s most recent headlines.

Tickets to attend are $149 per person (including gourmet two-course meal and inclusive drinks package).

The club has also locked in its spring sportsman’s lunch with Fletch and Hindy to appear as guests on Friday, November 16.
