’Neers out to finish season on a strong note

After providing a number of highlights throughout the year, the Toowoomba Mountainee­rs’ season comes to a close.

They will come up against the Gold Coast Rollers on Sunday, as they look to finish with their eighth win of the year.

The men were officially eliminated from playoff contention with their loss to Logan, a vast improvemen­t on their 17-straight losses in 2017.

Coach Danny Morseu said despite not being in the race, they were out to take down the Rollers.

“What we want to get out of it is a win, and a good win, that’s all we’re focusing on,” he said.

“If we can get a lead and hang onto it in our last game that would be fantastic.”

Morseu said the rotation would remain largely the same, with the upcoming off-season used to develop players.

“A lot of the younger players will be tried in the Heathley Cup (Big Q) as their developmen­t,” he said.

“We’re also hoping to have players in the Greater Brisbane League.”
