Style meets Rebecca Findlay of Relax Body and Beauty at 343 Ruthven St

Where are you from?

I am a local born and bred. Most of my family is still in Toowoomba, however my immediate family have all relocated to the sunny Hervey Bay.

What’s your beauty background?

I completed my studies in 2013; before that I had many years in pharmacy. I have always had a passion for people and this is probably my favourite part of my job, meeting people, getting to know my clients and creating great relationships.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family.

I reside in Westbrook with my husband and two kids aged 13 and 11, with my beautiful sooky chocolate labrador. Most of our weekends involve kids’ sport, hockey, soccer and go-kart racing! And catching up with friends and housework! Family is very important to me and my weekends are precious; with both children attending highschool next year, I wish time would slow down!

What does ‘beauty’ mean to you?

I have actually written a blog on this very subject on my website as a beauty therapist — a lot of our focus is on the aesthetics and external appearances. However... to me, beauty is more than skin deep. This is a firm belief of mine, and the basis of my business. I love helping my clients relax and feel beautiful, and of course having great brows, lashes and a glowing complexion can help!

What was the driver behind opening your own salon?

Family time and freedom, also financial gain. I am also very independent and like being in control, although I sometimes miss being part of a team in a salon environment. I enjoy the challenges of working for yourself and there is always something new to work on, whether it is a new treatment, marketing, financial book work, promotions, business strategies etc.

What sets your salon apart from others?

I believe it is the personal yet professional approach I take toward my clients. The difference when coming to a small owner/operator business, is you get 100 per cent care and commitment every time. Because I know without my clients I have no business, they mean the world to me and I hope that is portrayed through my service and care toward them.
