Swoon over the gorgeous wedding of this cute couple

-

High school sweethearts, Kylie Otto and Nathan Alexander, got married in November 2017, after 9 years together.

Almost five years previously, Nathan proposed to Kylie at the Capricorn Caves. He went down on one knee, with his parents and Kylie’s mum as witness.

“It was very unexpected, but I was so happy,” Kylie recalls, adding she always wanted a rustic country wedding.

“The farm I grew up on was too far for guests to travel, so we approached local farmers Kieren and Andrea Luck, who agreed to host our wedding on their property,” Kylie explains.

The couple were married on the farm Erinvale, beneath towering gums and beside the old rustic barn.

“The property has loads of character,” she adds.

The couple exchanged their vows under a beautiful wooden arbour, built by the owner of the farm from the property’s fallen trees.

Kylie took Nathan’s last name. She believes it’s important, as a family, to have the same name.

“It also takes me from the bottom to the top of the alphabet!” she quips.

The remains of the 110-year old homestead, barn and old yards made for memorable wedding photos.

“Not many brides have wedding photos feeding cows, do they?”

Their wedding was a mix of country rustic charm and modern elegance, with a clear marquee under a star-filled summer sky, festoon lights draped through the gum trees around the dance floor, centrepiece mason jars filled with blue gum foliage, and blush pink and white flowers, and warm light from the tea-light candles.

A serviced bar made from recycled wooden pallets, and a grazing table overflowing with fresh local goodness was a big hit among the guests, who were entertained by live music from Jacques van Lill on the veranda of the old barn.

“Everyone just let their hair down. Not one person was sitting in the corner.”

Having tied the knot, the couple are expecting their first child in December.

Kylie’s advice is to enlist the help of a wedding planner, if you can.

“It definitely helps take the stress off.” The couple are very appreciative of the help they received from their wedding planner, Daniella Martin, from First Look Wedding Planning.
