Helping families grow together

-

DOWNLANDS: Hailing from St George in Western Queensland, Downlands has been a perfect fit for the Haynes family.

The college offers co-educational boarding, allowing Summar (Year 11), Angus (Year 8) and Hunter (Year 6) to enjoy their schooling years together: sharing meals, routines, friends and teachers as well as cheering for each other from the sidelines and supporting one another.

The five boarding houses at Downlands are based on a family model to ensure each student is well cared for.

House parents are supervising, challenging, mentoring, commiserating and celebrating with the students through the ups and downs of adolescence.

Downlands boarders are well fed, with dedicated catering staff providing students with three nutritionally balanced meals a day, plus morning tea, afternoon tea and supper.

Maintaining a full schedule is the key to an enjoyable boarding experience.

Summar, Angus and Hunter have enjoyed a range of activities in their years at Downlands, that have included: Cattle Show Team, cricket, netball, swimming, rugby and rugby sevens.

There are plenty of weekend activities available to boarders, such as trips to the coast, excursions to watch rugby and rugby league, socials, rock climbing, skating, volleyball, live theatre, go-karting and movie nights round out the complete boarding experience.

As a college in the tradition of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC), Downlands seeks to ensure that our boarders are people of the heart, and our boarding school is committed to the MSC ethos.

There really are so many reasons to choose Downlands College.
