EMBRACING EVERY ASPECT OF YOU

- BY ELSPETH HASWELL-SMITH, STYLE COLUMNIST

Thoughts of attending the gym at ungodly hours, spending crazy amounts of money on beauty and always having to look and feel amazing.

But the idea of ‘a new you’ shouldn’t be hard.

At Food For Life we believe it means embracing every aspect of you and letting it shine.

Health isn’t just about how you look on the outside, it’s how you feel emotionally, physically and spiritually.

It’s about living in the moment. Embracing the now. Cherishing what we have.

Most people have heard that when we are stressed our cortisol levels increase.

On the micro scale this means that when we put more stress on our bodies, whether that be emotional or physical like a hard gym workout, our bodies create more ‘free radicals’.

And when there are too many free radicals they start attacking any other weaknesses in our bodies.

We become more fatigued, suffer inflammation and our metabolism slows.

Therefore, by stressing about trying to improve we suffer.

So, when we learn to relinquish this need to control and restrict and consider appreciating what we have, our body’s innate intelligence does what it is designed to do.

As long as we are feeding our bodies real and balanced foods and moving our bodies for health in a way we enjoy, our bodies will do the rest.

So next time you think about the new you, don’t look outward, look inward.
