SITTING PRETTY

- BY GRANT EDWARDS

Families wanting seven seats without the size of a large SUV are at the heart of Volkswagen’s latest release.

The seven-seat Tiguan Allspace has gone on sale this month with a raft of standard features and safety technology.

Prices start from $40,490 plus on-roads, with the range topper beginning at $54,490.

Overall, the Tiguan Allspace is a bigger vehicle than the standard Tiguan, which allows for the addition of two seats in the third row and, most impressively, a boot of 230 litres with the seats up.

It comes with a choice of petrol and diesel engines, four- or all- wheel drive, and feature-packed equipment grades.

It also comes standard with an electronic tailgate, eight-inch colour screen with navigation system, App-Connect, Media Control and three USB ports, driving profile selection, dynamic LED headlights, keyless access and start, 18-inch alloy wheels, electric folding exterior mirrors, auto headlights and rain sensing wipers, as well as three-zone climate control air conditioning.

Highline models also gain Adaptive Cruise Control, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert Lane Assist with Adaptive Lane Guidance, Emergency Assist and Traffic Jam Assist Adaptive Chassis Control, Dynamic Light Assist and 19-inch alloy wheels.

The high-spec models also have electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, heated front and row two outer seats, 9.2-inch Discover Pro satellite navigation system, and more.
