10 TARN MCLEAN

-

TAKING her creative designs from the canvas and re-imagining them as prints on fabric, Tarn McLean is an established Darling Downs textiles designer, showcasing her works at fashion festivals across the region.

Co-founding art spaces in the Garden City including the REFLEX projects, START Student Art Gallery and RAYGUN projects, emerging artists have found exhibition opportunities through the spaces, alongside international artists.

In 2016 she received her Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Southern Queensland for Modes of Painted Reality: The Design of Space and Architecture Since The 1960’s.

Ms McLean puts her PhD in Visual Art from the University of Southern Queensland on show with her solo and group exhibitions in Australian and abroad.

Her paintings and installation art have been exhibited in Copenhagen and San Francisco.

Her fashion label Ocre Designs uses botanical flowers as inspiration for her works and can be found across the country, and current stockists include Angela Smith Interiors, and Thibault and Donaldson, in Queensland, and the Interior Design Association South Australia.

Alongside textiles, Ms McLean is a painter and writer. Her works have been seen on fashion runways including the Jondaryan Woolshed Runway to Runway Emerging Designer competition.

It’s a credit to the artist who draws inspiration from her Toowoomba surrounds to create pieces that are in demand across Australia.
