Young auctioneers battle it out at Ekka

-

THE 2018 Queensland Young Auctioneers Competition is always a popular event at the Ekka. This year’s finalists are presenting some strong competition.

Matthew Grayson from George and Fuhrmann in Warwick will be a judge for the competition this year. Mr Grayson has been an auctioneer for 22 years and competed in the Young Auctioneers Competition himself before he turned 25.

Mr Grayson said he knows what he will be looking for in the competitors.

“Their fluency and how clear they are in what they’re saying,” he said.

“They do give us a criteria on what to judge them on.

“But it really comes down to their clearness and how well they know their values.”

This will be Mr Grayson’s first time judging the Young Auctioneers.

“It’s something different,” he said.

“I always listen to the young auctioneers and enjoy seeing the young fellas come through.

“So I’m looking forward to giving judging a go.”
