1. CONCERT FOR THE HOMELESS

When: Today from 6pm

Where: Bon Amici’s, Margaret St TOOWOOMBA musicians are uniting to raise money for homelessne­ss support services at the Hand for the Homeless Concert at Bon Amici’s on Saturday from 6pm.

Bands including Venice on Fire, Tidal Peak, The Winds and Overdrive will join with solo artists like Enya Ashlynn, Nick Marks and Josh Bartlett for a fun night of music.

Tickets are just $10 and all proceeds go to the Adventist Developmen­t and Relief Agency.

Donations of blankets and clothes are also welcome.

2. BLISS: CAMERATA QUEENSLAND’S CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

When: Today 7pm

Where: Empire Church Theatre FIND yourself drawn to a relaxed, smoky, honky tonk jazz piano bar, or somewhere across the ethereal American prairies, as Copland’s Clarinet Concerto evokes these and many other influences in his Clarinet Concerto – the centrepiec­e of this concert.

Commission­ed by the “King of Swing” and legendary jazz clarinetti­st Benny Goodman, the work is infused with the spirit of Brazilian folk music that Copland heard while travelling in Latin America when writing the piece. The internatio­nally acclaimed UK clarinet soloist Julian Bliss joins Camerata for this inspired work.

Featuring Julian Bliss (UK) – solo clarinet.

3. MILLINERY WITH JOHANNA GUERIN

When: Today and Sunday from 9am to 4pm

Where: Cobb and Co Museum, 27 Lindsay St, Toowoomba

Cloche means “bell” in French. Create a felt Cloche hat reminiscen­t of the pieces work by women in the 1920’s. Using traditiona­l blocks and techniques, you will create your very own custom fit Cloche for winter.

Johanna Guerin has an eye for detail. Her high quality workmanshi­p has resulted in her hats being worn across the world and at all major Australian Horse Racing events, as well as the Dubai World Cup and Royal Ascot events. Johanna was awarded the RAW Australia Queensland Accessorie­s Designer in 2013.

4. WORKSHOP PHOTOGRAPH 101 WITH GRACE YU

When: Today 11am to 1pm

Where: First Coat Studios, 6 Laurel St, Toowoomba

In this workshop you’ll learn basic tips and tricks of photograph­y, develop skills in areas including styling, lighting, flatlay and marketing tips using photograph­y.

You’ll leave knowing a lot more about how to get the best out of your photograph­y.

5. TOOWOOMBA GRAMMAR SCHOOL V NUDGEE COLLEGE RUGBY

Round 4 of the GPS Season sees TGS take on Nudgee College at home in rugby and basketball.

Followed by 5.15pm post-match refreshmen­ts for Old Boys, families and supporters at The Spotted Cow Hotel, Ruthven St from 5.15pm.

8. TOOWOOMBA LANGUAGES AND CULTURES FESTIVAL

When: Tomorrow from 10am to 4pm

Where: Queens Park, cnr Hume and Margaret Sts

ONE World Many Faces is the theme of this iconic event. It brings together more than 100 community groups, service organisati­ons, businesses and partners within our region to support and encourage a sense of belonging and community harmony.

The philosophy and purpose of the TLC Festival is to provide an annual opportunit­y for all community members to learn about and grow to understand other cultures, religions, nationalit­ies, languages, background­s and ethnic groups.

The festival will provide guests with an array on internatio­nal food and market stalls, more than 100 music and dance performanc­es, health and wellness markets, arts and crafts, languages, schools and community displays.

9. FREE PHOTOGRAPH­Y TOUR

When: Tomorrow 9am to 12noon Where: Botanical Gardens

Take a look at our beautiful gardens and historic buildings through a photograph­er’s eyes. We’ll take a stroll through Toowoomba’s Botanic Gardens, learn about some of our historic buildings and photograph some of our fantastic street art.

We will be joined by Shane Herring, an expert photograph­y coach and Art Photograph­y specialist. Shane will teach you expert techniques and help you turn great photos into pieces of art you will be proud to hang on your living room wall or in your office.
