DEVELOPMEN­T STAGES

-

Stage One - opened 15 September 2016

-Two-level retail galleria opened in September 2016.

-About 50 retailers are located in the galleria, with it primarily being fashion-focused. There is also a homewares precinct on the lower level.

-The galleria extends over Dent and Victoria Sts, the railway line, and West Creek.

Stage Two - opened 29 March 2017

-About 30 new stores joined the centre for the stage two opening, and more have steadily opened since that time.

-The centre delivered some of the biggest names in Australian retail to one location for the first time in Toowoomba’s history. Kmart, Big W and Woolworths joined Myer, Target and Coles. -A number of fast casual food outlets such as Betty’s Burgers, Schnitz and Noodle Hut also joined the centre as part of stage two. -Additional convenient car parking was delivered, bringing the total number of new car parks at the centre to 2000, and the total number of spaces at the centre to 4000.

Stage Three - opened late 2017

-Grand Central’s outdoor community space, Central Square, opened on August 31 2017. This space fronts Margaret St and includes a large staircase into the centre, a grassed area, trees and seating.

-The first two restaurant­s in Grand Central’s new dining precinct also opened on August 31 which were Chong Co and Yum Cha Cuisine. Since that time, other restaurant­s have joined the precinct including Max Brenner, Vapiano and The Bavarian. -The market room opened in early September 2017. Retailers in this space include Toowoomba Fresh, Andrew’s Meats, Central Seafood Market, and HanaroMart. Box and Barrel have also just joined this precinct.

-Also opening in September 2017 was Duggan Ln, which connects Duggan St directly to level one of the centre and market room retailers.
