Senator O’Sullivan has used his years of experience as a farmer, former detective and self-made successful businessman to understand and fight for regional Australia in the Upper House.

The conservative politician and long-term member of the Liberal National Party, Senator O’Sullivan holds an extensive property portfolio and various businesses that operate in several industries.

His son, Barry Jnr, is a regarded businessman in his own right through Newlands Group.

Founder of the Newlands forerunner Town and Country Industries, Mr O’Sullivan is the director and business development manager who has helped create the award-winning Walton Stores dining precinct and kick-start the Toowoomba CBD revival.

He is an integral cog in the company machine that operates in the commercial civil and engineering fields which secured works on the $1.6 billion Toowoomba Second Range Crossing.

The company contributed to the Ruthven St revival with the historic Knight’s building refurbishment, and built the region’s newest high school, Mary MacKillop Catholic College, at Highfields.
