THE WIN

WELL-related former Goldolphin gelding CLIVEDEN notched his second win since joining Oakey trainer Patrick Sexton earlier this year with an upset performance to down outof-luck 1.30 favourite Snitch in the Entires and Gelding Class 2 Handicap.

THE TRAINER

BEN CURRIE has raced to six Clifford Park wins after just two meetings of the new season with Cool Drafts, Isn’t She Elegant and Carpe Noctem adding to his flying start to the racing year.

THE RIDER

COOL Drafts had a bit on her the Fillies and Mares Class 2 rivals but jockey BEC WILLIAMS made a good thing of the resuming six-year-old with a rail-hugging ride to set up their fourlength victory.

FROM THE STAND

Race 1: There was specking for General Cos at 14. No money came for Boiling and the bookies were 4.60 at jump time with no bets taken. Then the phone rang for Red Mako, with one bet of $1500 at 3.50 and with smaller cash bets on track bookies were off to a bad start.

Race 2: A quiet betting race here with no real money taken on the red-hot favourite in Snitch; bookies were 1.40 at jump time. The connections were on hand to back Cliveden and snapped up

the 8 to give bookies another bad result.

Race 3: There was some specking for Remember Mary at 4.60 who was scratched at the barrier. The favourite in Red Hot Miss was hard to lay and bookies were 2.90 at jump time. The winner in Cool Drafts was unsupported, most unusual for a Currie horse, but bookies took the small win.

Race 4: Here punters only wanted one runner in the favourite Isn't She Elegant. A little 2.50 was bet then the cash money came at 2.40. Then things were back to normal with the Currie Army cleaning up the bookies.

Race 5: There was specking for Our Red Dog at 12. The Scoop saw each-way money at 5. Brutus was backed off course and no

money came back to the track. The winner Sireeanna was 6 into 5.50 on the QOP and not wanted on track.

Race 6: Favourite Trooper Kelly was impossible to lay and bookies were 1.80 with no takers. Then the money came for the winner in Carpe Noctem, with one bet of $1500 at 5 and followup cash bets to knock out bookies.

Race 7: There was good money for Dream Of Ascot at 5.50. There was no money for Mishani Shiraz and bookies were 6 on a 5 call with no takers. The money came for Dazzling Red with a phone bet of $2000 at 2.05 and cash bets at 2. This was the knock -out hit for bookies and they went home losers on the night.
