Come on, where is Toowoomba’s waterpark?

WHEN you ask most Toowoomba residents what is one thing the Garden City needs, without having to stop and think the answer will be a waterpark.

Some say Toowoomba is too cold to be able to take full advantage of a waterpark and they may be right, but it still doesn’t stop the majority wishing.

Arguments been put forward suggest that in winter the waterpark could be transformed to a park, a place where friends and family can meet up and enjoy the outdoors.

Even a small Western Downs town like Chinchilla is getting a waterpark after the Chinchilla Botanic Parklands project got the green light earlier this year.

Ipswich also has a state-ofthe-art waterpark and adventure playground, Splash ‘n’ Play.

The question of why Toowoomba is not home to a waterpark has again been brought up, since it was announced that Rockhampton will be home to a new waterpark just in time for summer.

A new waterpark will open at Discovery Parks in December and the $1.6 million project will feature three slides, a dump bucket as well as a toddler area.

Discovery Parks at Rockhampton already features an idyllic pool setting, and the waterpark development is a response to strong guest demand for more aquatic facilities at the park.

The company has 13 Discovery Parks and 38 Top Parks in Queensland.

It has recently acquired parks in Airlie Beach, Coolwaters Yeppoon and Townsville and is the largest owner and operator of holiday parks in Australia.

It may be time for Discovery Parks to look at Toowoomba for its next destination.
