Dancing for LifeFlight

Rock ’n’ roll fund raising afternoon

-

IN LIEU of its regular Sunday afternoon dance lesson session, the Just Rock Toowoomba Rock‘n’Roll Club held a “Something Different” event recently.

The club held a fundraising afternoon tea dance with all proceeds raised during the event going to the Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue.

Music was provided by well known entertainer and dancer Peter Vernon who added to everyone’s enjoyment by teaching a few easy dances along the way.

Just Rock Toowoomba president Dennis Mitchell said it was a “wonderful afternoon”.

“Even though we always have great fun learning to dance together of a Sunday, this occasion provided extra enjoyment with the knowledge that all our efforts were going to help out those in need,” Mr Mitchell said. “It really was ‘Something Different’. “Thanks to all those who contributed to the major and minor prizes, along with those who bought tickets and entered into the spirit of the afternoon.”

The Toowoomba Rock‘n’Roll Club meets each Sunday from 1pm to 4pm at the Drayton Hall.

New members are always welcome with all levels of dancing ability catered for, including beginners and the dancers get to dance to music from the 1950s to today’s hits.

“It’s a good afternoon of exercise as well as a great social outing,” Mr Mitchell said.
