THE Great Northern Brewing company is uniting Toowoomba pubs with those across the nation to raise money for farmers in drought.

The brand is donating 1000 kegs to businesses for their Let it Pour campaign, to raise $1 million for those battling the big dry.

Fitzy’s, the Spotted Cow, the Southern Hotel and the Royal are some of the many pubs in Toowoomba taking part in the initiative.

“When the Great Northern salesperson pitched the idea I said yes before they had finished the sentence,” Spotted Cow owner Phil Coorey said.

“He had me at ‘we’re raising money for the farmers’- I don’t know who this issue hasn’t touched.

“There are a lot of pubs in Toowoomba that are doing great things for the drought appeal.

“It’s just the Aussie spirit to help out reminds me of when everyone pulled together after the floods.”

Great Northern general manager Mick McKeown said venues would host their Let it Pour events from Friday, August 24 until Sunday, August 26.

“We are a big part of regional Australia and are going to let it pour as communities rally together to help our farmers,” he said.

“Some of our customers have been talking about bringing in local bands and hosting many other activities. Most importantly, people should find a participating venue and go along to support our farmers.”
